Donna and I won our quarter final womens doubles match against Frania Gillen and Lisa Aitken 11/3 11/3. Tomorrow we play Jackie Hawkes and Samantha Teran in the semis. xx
Im pretty disappointed in the way I played today. I moved from the glass back courts to the all glass court and really struggled to see the ball. As a result, my length was off and hit many loose balls. I also played the wrong tactics in the first game. I tried slowing it down in the second game which was better but because the ball was flying, I found it difficult to hit a consistent lob. I lost in 3 sets. In 2 days, I start the Indian womens doubles where I will be playing with Donna Urquhart. I will let you know of the result. xx
I won my match against Jackie 11/6 8/11 11/8 11/4. Played well in the first game but in the second, didn't control the forehand well. I was able to get infront and volley in the last two games though found it difficult, because trying to constantly volley on a bouncy court is tiring and its easy to get sucked into taking the ball off the back wall. I managed to keep attacking though. I play the semi finals tomorrow night against World Number 1, Nicol David. It's the first time Ive made the semi final of a gold event so thats pretty exciting. xx
I'd been adjusting to the bouncy courts in Chennai the last three days and was excited about playing the first round against local, Joshna Chinappa, who can be a very dangerous player, if given the chance. After losing a lead and the eventual first game, I came back strong in the last 3 games and took control to win the match 3/1. I now play Jackie Hawkes in the quarter finals who today upset world number 7, Madeline Perry. xx
