Yesterday I played world number 1, Nicol David in the quarter finals of the US Open on the amazing glass court at Drexel University. It was even at the start of the first game, trading point for point, but I was able to surge ahead to take the first 11/9. In the second, I made some poor decisions and went a bit passive in my play and Nicol stayed consistent making only one error to take the second game 6/11. My coach Rod Martin, told me I needed to attack early from the start of the 3rd while the ball was still cold which saw me take an early lead. Nicol evened the score to 9-9 but I played a winner at 10-9 to take the 3rd. I attacked early again in the 4th game and got to an 8-0 lead. Nicol fought back to 8-4 but I tried to stay relaxed and managed to win 11/4. I could not have won the match without the support of Rod and my team and I am very happy to have beaten the World Number 1. However, the tournament is not over and I have a rest day today and play my semi final tomorrow night against World Number 4, Madeline Perry

xx
